May is Community Action Month
Join us this month as we highlight Community Action, spread awareness, celebrate a rich history, and press onward in our mission.
Community Action of Southeast Iowa has been helping people and changing lives for 58 years!
In fiscal year 2023 we served 14,657 individuals; that’s 14% of the population in Des Moines, Lee, Henry, and Louisa Counties.
We work every day to create opportunities, transform the lives of our neighbors, and help families and communities overcome poverty. We have over 20+ programs and services to strengthen people. Our vision is for people in southeast Iowa to have the opportunity to reach their maximum potential.

Join us in one or more of these weekly events:
- Presentations on Wednesdays at the Burlington Public Library with agency staff, 9 – 10am
- Jean Friday Fundraisers – pay $2 and wear jeans to work – donate to Community Action
- Email Newsletter, sign up here: https://caofseia.org/newsletter-sign-up/
- Tuesday Dress Up Days: Swag/Maroon, Birthday, Team, & Hat days
Participate or learn throughout the month:
- Take a picture with our Community Action love sign. Share the picture with us by email or text: Community.Action@caofseia.org or text 319-457-6244.
- Look at pictures from 2023 in our Google Photo Album for Community Action Month.
- Watch for pictures being uploaded to this year’s album during the month.
- Relax and do some coloring of the Huggy Heart.
- Sign up to volunteer with us. This link will be open all month and one of our staff will contact you in June to see about how we can partner together: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/24VolunteerInterestForm
- Take a virtual tour of some of our locations with our Location Playlist.
- Watch some of our short videos on our YouTube channel.
- Register for Community Action 101, a free webinar on June 26th at 1pm by the National Community Action Partnership.
