Programs such as our food pantry, rent assistance, and other programs rely on local donations to help people. Other programs such as Head Start need local donations and matching funds.Your donation is needed. FaDSS Client Testimonial, November 2024:I am 33 years old. I live in Mount Pleasant Iowa. I have 2 boys [under10]. They are my whole world! I joined the FaDSS program in June of 2022. I was not sure how this program would benefit me, but I told Masi [the Family Development Specialist] that I would give it a try. As time went on, setting my goals with Masi became easier, and as of today, I have achieved 5 out of the 7 goals. One of them we are still working on. Two of my goals were getting my birth certificate and moving to a safer environment. The reason for the safer environment goal was because when Masi met me, I lived in a trailer that was falling apart. Masi told me that my boys and I deserved to live in better. Once I got the birth certificate, I was able to get into the apartment. While living in my safer apartment, I was able to go back to school to get my CNA, which achieved another goal and furthered my career.Masi also helped inspire me to apply for a Habitat for Humanity home, and she helped me with the whole process, and of turning in the pictures and documents that were needed for the habitat house. It has been 7 months of working hard on this goal, and in January of 2025, my boys and I will finally be in our forever home! Masi has been there for me mentally, telling me not to give up on my goals, and has been reminding me that I am so close to achieving this goal.
