Healthy Kids Iowa, Summer food for kids
Community Action is a local food giveaway site for the summer kids food program, Healthy Kids Iowa, for the counties of Des Moines, Henry, and Louisa.
(In Lee County for the same program: Fort Madison, Community Services Fort Madison Food Pantry or the Salvation Army, in Keokuk the Salvation Army.)

Details:
- Families in need (at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level)
- With children aged 4-18 can pick up additional foods.
- Des Moines County starts June 5th (Food Pantry not available on Wednesdays)
- Louisa County starts June 11th
- Henry County will start on June 12th at 9:30am-noon and will be on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays
- Families can receive the foods once per month for June, July, and August.
- The amount of food is based on the number of children in the home.
- There will be some choice involved including fruits, vegetables, and dairy items.
- This is in addition to what can be received through our regular food pantry.
