Day of the Child is an annual event that brings community agencies and organizations together under one roof for an
afternoon of information and family fun.  Activities are free and include art, games, demonstrations, child identification packets, entertainment and more.

Approximately 24 nonprofit organizations set up booths at the event.  Organizations provide free information and resources for both children and parents in the form of arts, games, crafts and activities.

Day of the Child is the idea of event organizer Tamee DeCoursey and Early Child Care Program Director, Cheryl Flaatten.  This one day event brings around 700 parents and children per year to the mall to partake in the festivities that last for four hours.

Families learn the importance of proper nutrition, exercise, education, child development, social activities and are made aware of the services and activities in the community that are available to them.  The event has ideas and information on many things parents can do with their children at home.  Parents and children show a lot of interest and excitement in the day of the event and continue to come to this worthwhile event every year.  Many parents now bringing their children to this event attended when they were children themselves!
