In fiscal year 2021 our team here served 2,142 individuals in 955 households with some of our 20+ programs and services for those of low income. Success! Listen in as one of our Burlington FaDSS participants shares about her experience with the program:From day one of signing up with the program my worker has been an amazing person to turn to and have on my side. I was having a hard time in life over the past few years because of my medical disabilities, so I wasn't able to work like a normal person. I was struggling mentally as well always trying to figure out a next move so my children never went without. It was very difficult at times but with help from my FaDSS worker and the program she always seemed to know just what kind of help I needed. With the help of [Community Action] programs we have gotten new bunk beds, a new bed for myself and my partner, a toddler bed, an apartment, car seats because of an accident we were in, not to mention the appliances, and random household needs.I can say I don't know how I would have gotten out of certain situations I've been in if it weren't for my worker and the programs because I was in such a low place especially having to live with my mother. I have come so far and grown so much from were I was when I started this program 5 years ago. I have gotten released from some of my medical restrictions, found a job suitable for my body, moved out and got my own place, started a family, and can say I always get my bills paid. For all the help from these programs I am eternally grateful for all the help I have received.
