The Child & Adult Care Food Program

The Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is federally funded by the USDA to provide financial reimbursement to licensed/registered child care providers for serving nutritious meals and snacks to children in their care.  Providers and children also participate in nutrition education through fun activities which promote good eating habits, gross motor activities and exercise.

Joining the CACFP is easy and benefits both you and the children.

  • You receive cash reimbursements to help with your business expenses
  • Children will receive balanced meals and snacks
  • You can attract families to your business because you have increased the quality of your environment

Registered Home Providers receive monthly reimbursements based on the number of meals/snacks served to enrolled children.  The amount a provider receives is based on a 2-Tier reimbursement system.  This rate system is based on demographics and income.

Effective July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016 the following rates apply:

Tier 1

Tier 2

$   .48

$ 1.50

$  .74

$   .20

Licensed Child Care Centers may be sponsored by Community Action. Children receive the same benefits of nutritious meals and snacks.  The center receives monthly reimbursements based on family size and income.  Head Start also participates in the CACFP program.
